Mothers Day

The current celebration of Mother's Day began in 1908 when Anna Jarvis, a peace activist who cared for wounded civil war soldiers, organized a memorial for her mother. The event took place at St Andrew's Methodist Church in Grafton, Virginia, which is now the international sanctuary of Mother's Day.

But it was in 1905, the year of her mother's death, that Anna Jarvis undertook the difficult mission of obtaining support for the celebration of Mother's Day in the United States. Her desire was to pay tribute to all the mothers of the world, devoted to their family and their society. In 1911, most American states began to celebrate Mother's Day as a local holiday.

At Moose pharmacy, we have valued our mothers since 1882. It is important to celebrate mothers and thank them for all they do as family and society members.

A great way for you to celebrate your mother is to come to one of our seven locations and have one of our pharmacists run a Comprehensive Medication Review (CMR) of her medicines.  A CMR is an encounter conducted face-to-face (or via telephone) between a patient (or a patient family member) and our pharmacists. Our pharmacists collect patient-specific information to identify medication-related issues and create a plan to resolve them.

On your way out the store, you could also purchase a Mother’s Day item from our shelves’ selection. Today serves as the best way to be grateful for all the great things Mom has done for you!
