Houseplant Appreciation Day

Do you enjoy looking at different plants when outside? Do you spend your lunch breaks getting some fresh air? If so, there is a way to bring a little nature inside.

January 10th is National Houseplant Day where everyone is encouraged to show their houseplants a little extra love. You may be wondering, “why are some people passionate enough about houseplants to have dedicated a whole day to them?”

Houseplants can benefit the indoors more than by only making a room look more stylish. Having plants inside has been proven to increase oxygen levels, lower stress, help the healing process after a surgery, and more.

The Journal of Physiological Anthropology conducted a study that proved taking care of a plant dropped blood pressure, as well as decreased environmental stress.

Green thumb or not, there are houseplants anyone can keep alive!

A couple of examples would be Peace Lily, Aloe Vera, Snake Plant, and ZZ Plant. Keeping more difficult plants up to par can turn into a fun, peaceful hobby.

Taking care of plants is a low energy, meaningful action that can increase happiness. Having plants in a workplace can increase employee peace, while also making the place look more alive.

This small change may be just what you need. Ask a Moose Pharmacist about other lifestyle changes that can also decrease stress and increase motivation! Sometimes small changes are able to make a huge impact on daily living.
